TOOLKIT: Freedom of And Access to Information Advocacy Toolkit

The Media Institute of the Caribbean is proud to launch its yearlong Freedom of / Access to Information Project from January to October 2023. The year-long undertaking involves five major stages with the goal of setting a gold-standard for what the Freedom of Information legislative framework should look like in the Caribbean Region.
This project is multi-layered and seeks to echo the trends of advocacy towards a unified approach to Freedom of Information around the world. MIC intends to establish a Caribbean-wide mechanism that will assist journalists, civil society organizations and state entities with all things FOI. The project will undoubtedly colour the grey areas and further the overriding objective of freedom of information; to increase transparency and accountability. In its efforts, MIC hopes to add to the discourse and repository of information in the region by inviting the Caribbean Community to use the findings from the project as a case study for how the law should be reviewed and shaped.
