We specialize in Journalism training and associated areas of interest. Our rea of specialty is training in Investigative Reporting techniques. 

We have conducted over 400 workshops throughout the Pan Caribbean region 

More than 500 journalists comprise our Alumni.

Programmes are conducted both virtually and in-person, attracting journalists, educators, and communicators from across the Caribbean, and are led by regional specialists and internationally recognized trainers.

The Media Institute of the Caribbean (MIC) is committed to advancing the standard of journalism across the region by providing robust training and capacity-building opportunities at no cost for selected journalists. MIC’s training programmes are designed to empower both emerging and experienced media professionals with practical skills, modern techniques, and specialized knowledge—enabling them to navigate the rapidly evolving media landscape. How to Apply for Free Training Programs at the Media Institute of the Caribbean

To date, all programmes and opportunities offered to journalists and students are free.

Application Process

  • Eligibility: The programs are open to regional journalists. Some programs may require submission of samples of your work.

  • Application Form: Applicants must complete an application form and a questionnaire. These are typically available on the institute’s official website or social media pages.

  • Supporting Materials: For some courses, along with the application, you may be asked to submit work samples relevant to the training topic.

  • Fellowship Interviews: For our signature Investigative Journalism Fellowship, after reviewing applications, shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview as part of the selection process.

Certain special workshops or bootcamps may have their own online application links or registration forms listed directly in event announcements. Be sure to check the latest updates on the MIC website and register early, as spots are often limited.
