Project Funding

Small newsrooms and independent journalists across the Caribbean face significant challenges due to limited resources and funding constraints. At the Media Institute of the Caribbean (MIC), we recognize these obstacles and are committed to supporting their vital work.

Through our project funding program, we assist by providing access to practical tools, expert guidance, and essential resources. We help enhance their capacity by offering solutions such as the FOI Helpdesk; story grants; administrative assistance for cross-border collaboration by the Caribbean Investigative Journalism Network, empowering them to produce impactful stories in the region.

How MIC Supports Small Newsrooms and Independent Journalists

  • Provision of industry-standard journalism and editorial tip sheets

  • Training and workshops focused on newsroom efficiency

  • Small grants for equipment or technology upgrades (see Press Release below)

  • Networking opportunities with regional media experts and peers
